Headliner Announced for 3rd Annual Freedom Fest

Megan Moroney announced as headliner for 3rd Annual Freedom Fest

The City of Springfield is excited to announce CMT Music Award winner Megan Moroney will be the featured headliner at the city’s third annual Freedom Fest. Megan Moroney will take the stage at on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Robertson County Fairgrounds. The concert is free and open to the public.

Born and raised in Georgia, Megan Moroney is one of Nashville’s most exciting up-and-coming artists. Megan grew up in a musical household heavily influenced by legendary songwriters in classic country, southern rock, and Americana. During Megan’s freshman year at the University of Georgia, an opportunity to open for an established country artist at the iconic Georgia Theatre prompted Megan to write her very first original song. From there, she developed a love for storytelling and has become known for her distinctive voice and honest, conversational lyrics.

Singer-songwriter Ben Chapman will precede Megan Moroney with a performance. The recent release of Ben Chapman’s self-produced Amber Sound, Vol. 1, featuring his band Ben Chapman & Co., combines dynamic guitar licks, groove-driven bass lines, guitar solos with swagger, and dreamy lyrics you’ll float away on while singing along. As direct support on Lainey Wilson’s sold-out Country With A Flare Tour, this album is becoming the soundtrack to the Ben Chapman movement, converting a room of strangers to newly established groupies feeding off the rockin’, energetic set akin to the Black Crowes while channeling the classic intimacy of Willie and soul of The Allman Brothers Band.

The City of Springfield is excited to welcome local artists Jimmy Church Band and Buzzy Poole to the stage. The performance order is as follows: Buzzy Poole, Jimmy Church Band, Ben Chapman, and Megan Moroney.

The City of Springfield’s 3rd Annual Freedom Fest will take place on Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Fairgrounds, 4635 US-41. Freedom Fest offers patrons a free experience with live music, carnival rides, inflatables, and local vendors. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from a variety of food vendors. The evening will conclude with the city’s fireworks display around 9:15 p.m.
