During the board meeting on February 21, 2023, the Springfield Board of Mayor and Aldermen were honored to proclaim Matthew and Rhonda Allen and Pat and Angela Looney as community heroes in recognition of their life-saving actions that saved the lives of Cheyenne Walter and Summer McIntosh.
On January 8, 2023, Mr. and Mrs. Allen, and Mr. and Mrs. Looney were passing by the Springfield Greenway and observed two juveniles in a dangerous situation in the nearby water. Selflessly and without hesitation, they came to their aide and assisted in getting both girls out of the water. Due to their selfless actions, two lives were saved that day.
